More often than not when I pack for a weekend trip, I always try to bring along a couple of cigars. I used to throw them in a zip lock bag and find a spot in my shaving kit or a side pocket of my Filson bag where they would be somewhat protected. This did not always work out as planned. I sometimes showed up to my destination with cigars in a less than pristine condition. I finally broke down and purchased a leather cigar holder from Purdey. In the late 1800’s craftsmen started to make fine leather holders but it wasn’t until the early 1920’s and 30’s that makers such as Dunhill, Asprey, and Swaine Adeney Brigg began producing cigar holders that were both functional and statements of wealth.
